World TV Ltd. Opens the Door to Asia and to the World

World TV Ltd. launched in June 2000 and in association with the satellite digital service on SKY Network Television Limited (SKY).World TV Ltd. (WTV) broadcasts 24 hours daily in 7 TV channels and 2 radio channels throughout N.Z. We have program suppliers coming from mainstream media in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and self production. WTV also publishes a monthly magazine. This magazine is free deliver to our subscriber and with free circulation nationwide.

In the month of March 2006, WTV has added 3 more new TV channels to serve the growing population of Korean and Chinese. The first 24-hour free-to-air Chinese TV channel joined the service on the 1st of August 2007, setting a milestone for Asian broadcasting in New Zealand.

WTV has been fulfilling the need of satellite television media for Asian community in New Zealand. The association with SKY satellite digital service ensures both the transmission and reception with crisp and excellent viewing quality.

Our philosophy is to provide quality entertainment program, educational program and cultural program serving local born Asian and new Asian immigrant. We are sure that the above contribution creates up-to-date worldwide information, prime entertainment and local Asian community news for Asian people to have more enjoyable life in New Zealand. We sincerely wish the above contribution will benefit our next generations to memorize our culture and language.

Up to 2006, Asian took up about 9 percents of New Zealand population. The ethnic group of Chinese, Japanese and Korean is totaling over 190,000, accounting for 27% growth over last census result in 2001. At the moment, there are over 10,000 households subscribing WTV. The total number of viewers reaching 50,000 which is approximately 26 percents of the market and along with our 2 radio channels covering of Chinese market, WTV becomes one of the most potential media platform in New Zealand. We believe our number of quality television subscriber and radio listener will continue to grow. The growth will attract more Asian with strong spending ability.

Channel 300 - Popular KBS Korean language entertainment TV channel
delivering news, sport, culture, music, documentary, drama, children program, finance report and local TV 3 news with Korean subtitle from Monday to Friday.

Channel 301 - Popular MBC and SBS Korean language TV channels. MBC is a credible channel in Korean and earned fame and recognition worldwide with the prizes in a number of international TV festivals. MBC supplies news, sport, culture, music, documentary, drama, children program and finance report. SBS supplies their well known dramas.

Channel 302 - The most popular entertainment TV channel NHK from Japan, delivering news, sport, culture, documentary, drama, music, finance report and children program.
This channel also provides NHK world radio 24 hours service through the sub-audio system.

Channel 303 - This is a Cantonese language entertainment and informative channel with news, drama, variety show, documentary, culture, music program, finance and business report from TVBJ, I-Cable TV, movie from Celestial Movies and daily local TV 3 evening news with Chinese subtitle, weekly local news program “CTV Weekly News”, weekly interview program “Face to Face”, documentary program and finance program “Finance Weekly” from our local production team.

Channel 304 – This is a variety show channel in Mandarin language. This channel provides programmes from ETTV, CTI, Jet TV, TVBSN, TVBS, Azio TV, Unique Business TV, CTV, STV of Taiwan and self production programmes such as local news program “Weekly news”, weekly interview program “Face to Face” and weekly finance program “Finance Weekly”.

Channel 305 – This is a Taiwan base channel in Mandarin language. This channel formed by FTV (the best free to air Taiwan channel), SETI, ETTV, CTI, Da-Ai TV, TVB 8, STV bringing fine selection of prime time drama, variety show. This channel contains the best TV programmes of Taiwan origin.

Channel 306 – A Mandarin language TV channel of daily delivery of news, business and finance report, sport, culture, documentary, variety show and drama from Phoenix TV of Hong Kong. Phoenix TV is one of the most popular TV channel for China.

Channel 307 –This is a Chinese drama channel in Mandarin language. This channel provides 11 latest and popular dramas from Monday to Friday and classical movies and dramas for Saturday and Sunday. Dramas are coming from TVB Xing He channel in Hong Kong and Shanghai / Beijing individual famous producers. Movies are coming from Celestial Pictures Ltd.

Channel 308 – This is a majority Mandarin language channel mainly broadcasting CCTV4 of China and selective program from ATV (Cantonese language with Chinese subtitle) of Hong Kong.

Channel 309 – This is a Mandarin language channel formed by Hunan Broadcasting System and Phoenix TV Info News Channel. These two channels produce the most representative variety show and informative programmes in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan region.

2 Radio Channels

Auckland frequency FM95.8 and SKY Channel 311 –The only Cantonese language radio channel broadcasts 24 hours daily nationwide and with radio frequency FM 95.8 to cover Auckland area.

Auckland frequency AM936 and SKY Channel 312– The only Mandarin language radio channel broadcasts 24 hours daily nationwide and with radio frequency AM 936 to cover Auckland area.

1 Free-to-Air TV Channel, CTV8

CTV8 - is an Auckland-based, free-to-air (FTA) broadcast on UHF channel 62 from Kordia’s Waiatarua main transmission site. It is capable of bi-lingual broadcasting, with simulcast Mandarin and Cantonese audio feeds to satisfy the demands of a huge an diverse Chinese population. CTV8’s programme line-up includes popular drama series; news and current affairs from mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan; variety shows of diverse formats; documentaries with an Asian emphasis, as well as a wide range of ‘infotainment’.
